Griffith Seeks Community Builder 

The Community of Griffith is currently accepting applications for the position of Community Builder to work with our Neighborhood Spotlight Steering Committee , the Legacy Foundation, and IACED to lead the Collective Impact Planning process to develop a Quality of Life Plan for our Community. The Community Builder need not be experienced in this position but he or she must be impassioned about the Community of Griffith and the Community Building Process and possess the following qualifications as outlined in the below posted Job Description.

Responsibilities 

  • Continually recruit the right people for the right place in the process

    • Gain tangible commitments and buy-in from formal leadership, neighborhood institutions, and partners with resources

    • Gain support and buy-in from informal leaders and neighborhood residents 

    • Connect people to appropriate roles, such as planning, early action activities, and implementation 

  • Train community members in common language and process; reinforce that training with consistent use of Spotlight messaging and process

  • Build the capacity of existing community entities (business associations, neighborhood associations, volunteer groups, etc.) through partnerships, training, and involvement in the process 

  • Coordinate Spotlight-related events and meetings

  • Produce reports based on qualitative feedback from the community

  • Assist in development of the final plan 

  • Provide oversight and assistance to volunteer committees

  • Ensure that committees follow the process and use consistent formatting in developing elements of the plan

  • Represent the community and Spotlight at public events and in meetings

  • Remain in regular communication with Legacy and IACED to ensure that all parties are aware of process, challenges, and next steps

  • Must be available for evening and weekend meetings, as required 

 

This is a contracted full-time consulting position lasting through the development and completion of the Griffith Quality of Life Plan which is scheduled for mid December 2016. The Community Builder will be supervised by the C.E.O. and Board of Directors of the backbone organization (the Griffith YMCA) and will work closely with the Steering Committee, the Legacy Foundation, and IACED.
