Transforming Lake County
The Legacy Foundation cares about making Lake County a place where families are financially secure, education is accessible to everyone, our neighborhoods are safe, and art is abundant. Legacy Foundation seeks to support organizations that make Lake County a better place to live.
Legacy Foundation offers two grants: Transform Lake County and Thriving Hobart Seniors. These grants can range from $2,000 - $25,000. The Humane Society of the Calumet Area's Gary Pets for Life Program is a life changing program not only for the clients but for the workers as well. From this program, 461 spay/neuter surgeries have been completed.
Highland Community Foundation Public Art Sculpture

On April 7, 2015, a $3,750 Transform Lake County Grant from Legacy Foundation’s Lake County Community Fund was awarded to Highland Community Foundation in support of a Public Art Sculpture. This sculpture is memorial to Ashley Ritz, a Highland high school student who lost her life at this intersection in an August 2003 car accident.
